Easy Homemade Pasta Shells

cookpad.japan
cookpad.japan @cookpad_jp

My mom made these cute pasta shells using the sushi rolling mat.
Serve the pasta with your favorite sauce, or they're cute floating in soups. This pasta is easy and fun to make.

The pasta sauce clings onto the holes and ridges of the shells which makes this pasta dish tastier. You can make small batches of this pasta and use it for minestrone soup.
The consistency of the dough will change by temperature, humidity, season or even day by day, so adjust accordingly. Recipe by Kuna

Steps

  1. 1

Add all the ingredients to the bowl and knead! The dough should have a springy texture, a little firmer than udon noodle dough. Adjust the amount of water.

  2. 2

Shape the dough into balls, about the size of a soy bean (small piece), and place on the sushi rolling mat.

  3. 3

With the pad of your thumb, roll out the dough diagonally against the sushi rolling mat, and the dough will roll up into a cute shape.

  4. 4

  5. 5

Add salt (not listed in ingredients) in hot water, boil the pasta as you usually do, and they are ready! The cooking time is about the same as regular fresh pasta.
