Ingredients

4 servings
  1. 4 cupsmilk
  2. 2 cupsmakhana/foxnuts
  3. 2 tbspchopped cashews
  4. 2 tbspchopped almonds
  5. 1 tbspchironjee
  6. 1 tbspraisins
  7. 2 tbspgrated dry coconut
  8. 1/4 tspcardamom powder
  9. as requiredFew strands saffron
  10. 6-8 tbspsugar
  11. 2 tspghee

Cooking Instructions

    Heat ghee in a pan.

    Add cashew, almond, raisins, chironjee and coconut.

  3. 3

    Roast on low flame till golden brown. Keep it aside

  4. 4

    Add in the makhana in the same pan and roast on low flame till they become crisp. Keep aside.

  5. 5

    Now boil the milk in a heavy bottomed flame on low medium flame.

  6. 6

    When milk comes to a boil, add all the roasted dryfruits and makhana. Keep stirring.

  7. 7

    Add in the saffron, cardamom powder and sugar. Mix well.

  8. 8

    Keep stirring and simmer it for about 12-15 minutes.

  9. 9

    Serve makhana kheer hot or cold.
