Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

Clean, wash and soak split moong dal for nearly ten minutes.

  2. 2

In a pressure cooker, add soaked split moong dal, turmeric and salt. Bring it to boil. You will see some froth on the top. Remove it with the help of the spoon. Carefully place the lid and close the pressure cooker. Cook it on medium flame till two whistles.

In a deep saucepan, heat ghee. Add cumin seeds and let it crackle. Add garlic, ginger and geen chillies. Saute on very low flame and let the raw smell go. Now add blended dal and let it boil. Adjust the consistency by adding a cup of water. Once the dal is boiling switch off the flame and add lemon juice and coriander leaves.

  5. 5

Serve the Shorba/soup in a soup bowl. Top it with some sunflower seeds and coriander leaves. Serve immediately.
