Matar Paneer is a North Indian Punjabi sabji. Matar Paneer is made in a tomato base gravy. Tomato, onion and garam masala are also used in making the gravy which gives this vegetable a very nice taste, aroma and texture. Matar I.e. green peas and paneer are used abundantly in this vegetable, so this vegetable is a healthy vegetable for young children and adults alike. Matar Paneer can be served with naan, roti, paratha or rice.

Heat ghee and oil in a pan and add cumin seeds, cinnamon, cloves, cardamom, bay leaves, and pepper. Then add large pieces of onion and garlic. Let it cook for two minutes.

Now add ginger-chilli paste and large pieces of tomato, add 1/4 cup water, turmeric and salt to taste and let it cook till the tomatoes become soft. Then turn off the gas and let it cool completely.

Add this prepared mixture to the mixer jar and make a puree of it. Keep this puree aside.

Heat ghee and oil in a pan and add Kashmiri red chilli powder, coriander, turmeric and the prepared puree.

Now add the paneer pieces and cooked green peas, mix well and let it cook for two minutes.

Then add kasuri fenugreek and fresh cream and mix well.

So the Matar Paneer will be ready to serve.

Garnish with chopped coriander and serve hot.
