Gather all ingredients for mise en place.

Chop vegetables and boil potatoes and carrots for 7 minutes or until fork tender. Do not overboil to avoid vegetables becoming waterlogged.

While vegetables are cooking, saute ground chicken and onion until fully cooked.

Add black bean sauce and vegetables. Mix to combine.

Deglaze with water to desired sauciness. I find the black bean sauce to be adequately seasoned. But if needed, add a pinch of salt.

Serve on lettuce wraps, add optional garnishes as desired, and enjoy while the filling is hot!
