Ingredients

  1. 1 cupatta (whole wheat flour)
  2. 1/2 cupbesan (chickpea flour)
  3. 1 cupfenugreek leaves, chopped
  4. 1 tsp.ginger, grated
  5. 1 tsp.garlic, grated
  6. 2green chilies, chopped
  7. salt to taste
  8. 1/2 tsp.turmeric powder
  9. 1/2 tsp.red chili powder
  10. 1/2 tsp.roasted cumin powder
  11. 1/2 tsp.roasted coriander powder
  12. 1/4 tsp.asafoetida
  13. 1/2 tsp.carom seeds
  14. 2 tbsp.yoghurt
  15. 1 tbsp.oil to knead
  16. water as needed to knead
  17. oil to shallow fry

Steps

  1. 1

    In a bowl, combine all the ingredients (except oil to shallow fry). Add very little water to knead it. If the dough becomes too sticky, more atta can be added.

    Apply some oil & keep it covered for 10-15 minutes. Divide into equal portions.

    Roll out each one into a thin chapatti by dusting some flour.

    Heat a tawa & fry the theplas, one at a time, After one side is
    cooked, flip it over & apply some oil on the surface. Do the
    same to the other side side too. Fry all the remaining theplas in the similar way.

    Serve hot with yoghurt or pickle
