Ingredients

45-50 minutes including prep and cook time
2 servings
  1. 3cloves, chopped Garlic
  2. 2tbsp, chopped Cilantro
  3. 2Dry red chilies
  4. 0.25 tspGaram masala
  5. 0.5 tspCumin powder
  6. 1 tspCoriander powder
  7. 0.5 tspKashmiri red chili powder
  8. 0.5 tspRed chili powder
  9. 1medium, chopped Tomato
  10. 1small, chopped Onion
  11. 1/2 cupMasoor dal
  12. 2 tbspGhee
  13. 1 pinchAsafetida
  14. 0.5 tspTurmeric powder
  15. 1 tspSalt
  16. 500 ml(plus extra to adjust consistency) Water
  17. 2 tbspChana dal
  18. 2 tbspMoong dal
  19. 1/4 cupToor dal

Cooking Instructions

45-50 minutes including prep and cook time

    Rinse and soak all dals in the given ratio for at least 30 minutes.

    Drain and pressure cook dals with water, salt, turmeric, and asafetida until soft.

  3. 3

    Adjust dal consistency with extra water if needed.

  4. 4

    Heat ghee in a small pan, sauté garlic until fragrant.

  5. 5

    Add onion and tomato, cook until soft.

  6. 6

    Add all spices and dry red chilies, sauté for a few minutes.

  7. 7

    Pour tadka over dal, add cilantro, simmer for 5 minutes.

    Serve hot.
