Steps
- 1
Make a well in the flour for the water and salt, and mix until a cohesive dough forms.
- 2
Roll out the dough into a tube-shape of approximately 2cm diameter. Cut them length-wise into ~5cm pieces.
- 3
Cook the rice cakes in boiling water until they float.
- 4
Transfer the cooked rice cakes immediately into cold water.
- 5
While the rice cakes cool, mix the ingredients for the gochujang sauce in a separate bowl.
- 6
In a pan, add the 360ml of water and the sauce and bring to a boil.
- 7
Once boiling, add the rice cakes and simmer until reduced.
- 8
Add the spring onions and optionally kimchi. Korean fish cakes are also a great addition.
- 9
Continue simmering for 2-3 minutes, then kill the heat and serve with boiled eggs and a sprinkle of sesame seeds. Enjoy!
