Jowar Moong Dal Khichdi is a nutrient-dense, filling, and comforting khichdi or a one-pot meal. It is made with Whole Jowar or Sorghum and split moong dal. This Millet and dal khichdi is a simple fuss-free comforting meal for weight loss. A simple khichdi in which rice is replaced with gluten-free Jowar millet.

First upon in a mixure jar add jowar pearls and coarsely grind it. Then rinse the Jowar pearls 2-3 times in clean tap water. Then soak the jowar pearls for 6 to 8 hours. Then rinse the moong dal and soak it for a minimum of 30 minutes.

Now add oil and ghee in a pressure cooker and heat it. Then add cumin seeds, sweet curry leaves, bay leaves, dry red chilies, cloves, cinnamon and saute till fragrant.

Now add the asafoetida and mix it. Then add finely chopped green chillies, ginger and garlic to it and mix and saute for half minute. Then add finely chopped onion to it and mix and saute until it becomes transparent.

Now add finely chopped carrots, capsicum, potatoes, green peas, tomatoes and mix well and saute for a while.

Now add turmeric powder, salt, red chilli powder, coriander cumin powder, garam masala, mix well and sauté with the vegetables.

Now add soaked yellow moong dal and soaked jowar and mix well. After that add water and mix well and cover the cooker lid and cook the khichdi for 5 to 6 whistles for medium gas flame.

Now our very healthy Jowar Moong Dal Khichdi is ready for serve. Serve this khichdi with garnish chopped green coriander leaves.
