This is a spicy & sour curry. You can eat it with rice or drink it like a soup. If you like the taste of curry leaves, add it at the beginning before the tomatoes. You can filter the "Rasam" & drink or you can drink it as it is. Add a lot of "Rasam" to the rice, eat the rice & then drink the "Rasam".That's a style I know.

  • 3Tomato
  • 1 pieceTamarind
  • 1 tbspGingely Oil
  • 3 cloveGarlic
  • 1 pieceGinger
  • 2Small Shallots
  • 1/2 tspBlack Pepper Powder
  • 1/2 tspChilli Powder
  • 1 1/2 tspCoriander Powder
  • 1/4 tspTurmeric Powder
  • 1/4 tspCumin Powder
  • 2 pinchAsafoetida Powder
  • 2 tbspChopped Coriander Leaves
  • Hot Water
  • Salt

    Heat oil in a pan. Crush shallots, ginger & garlic. Add it to the oil. Saute.

    Add pepper powder, chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder & cumin powder. Mix well.

    Chop the tomatoes into small pieces (you can also grind it). Add it to the pan. Close the lid & cook the tomatoes.

    Add some salt & hot water. Taste the mix. If it's not sour enough, crush the tamarind in little water, filter & add it to the mixture. Else skip this step.

    Add asafoetida powder. Mix & boil.

    Add the chopped coriander leaves into it. Stir & boil for two minutes. Turn off the stove.
