Steps
- 1
In the bowl of a mixer, beat the butter with the sugars until light and fluffy.
- 2
Add the eggs and vanilla extract, and beat for another 3 minutes.
- 3
Sift together the flour, baking powder, salt, and cocoa powder, then add to the mixture.
- 4
Mix for 1 more minute until a soft dough forms.
- 5
Add the chopped chocolate and chocolate chips, and gently knead to combine.
- 6
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Shape the dough into balls about 3/4 ounce (20 grams) each and place them on the sheet, leaving about 2 inches (5 cm) between them.
- 7
Bake at 350°F (180°C) for about 15 to 20 minutes.
- 8
For softer cookies, use less flour so the dough is looser, and drop spoonfuls onto the baking sheet using a tablespoon or ice cream scoop.
