Ingredients

  1. For Stuffing:
  2. 2 cupsPre-cooked Matar
  3. (Green Peas)
  4. 1Green chilli (chopped)
  5. 1 tspGinger (chopped)
  6. 1/2 tspCumin powder
  7. to tasteSalt
  8. 1/4 cupCoriander
  9. 2 tbspFresh Coconut
  10. For Batter:
  11. 1 cupPre-soaked Urad Dal
  12. (Split black gram)
  13. 5-6Curry leaves (chopped)
  14. 1Green chilli (chopped)
  15. 1 tspGinger (chopped)
  16. 1/4 tspHing (Asafoetida)
  17. 1/4 tspPepper
  18. to tasteSalt
  19. Water
  20. Oil

Steps

  1. 1

    Mix all the stuffing ingredients and grind coarsely.

  2. 2

    Refrigerate for 10 minutes and then roll into gooseberry sized balls. keep that aside.

  3. 3

    Grind the urad dal into a smooth paste.

  4. 4

    Add curry leaves, green chilli, ginger, hing, pepper, salt, little water and mix well.

    (The batter should be dropping consistency)

  5. 5

    Heat the oil and coat the green peas stuffing with the batter.

  6. 6

    Fry the vadas until it's golden & crispy and serve with coriander chutney.
