Ingredients

  1. 1/4 cuptoor daal
  2. 1/4 cupchana daal
  3. 1/4 cupurad daal (split)
  4. To tasteRed chilli powder
  5. 1/2 tspGaram masala
  6. to tasteSalt
  7. 1/4 tspTurmeric powder
  8. 1 tspDried mango powder
  9. For tadka or tempering
  10. 1onion chopped
  11. 1Tomatoe chopped
  12. 1 tbspginger garlic paste
  13. 2whole dried red chilli
  14. 1/4 tspcumin seed
  15. Pinchasafoetida
  16. As neededGreen coriander leaves for garnish
  17. 2 tbspghee or clarified butter

Cooking Instructions

    First boil the wash daal into the pressure cooker.,for 10to 20 min. Until the daal cook properly.

    After that in a kadhai add ghee for tadka.

    When ghee hot, add onions. Saute till golden.now add ginger garlic paste. Then add tomatoes cook till soften or masala separates oil

    Now add masalas stir it well. Cook till masala separates the oil.

    Now pour the daal over the masala. Cook till boiling point. And simmer for good five min.

    Now in a tadka pan add ghee. Add other ingredients. Like cumin seeds, hing,whole red chilli. And pour on to the daal.and garnish with green coriander leaves and sprinkle some garam masala.

    Highway daal is ready serve with zeera rice, hot chappaties, or butter naan.
