Ingredients

  1. Vegetable oil (2 cooking spoons)
  2. Palm oil (3 cooking spoons)
  3. Chopped onions (1 cup)
  4. Tomato paste (1 Tbsp)
  5. Pepper puree (2 tomatoes, 1 onion, 6 Shọmbọ, 2 Tatashe, 4 rodo)
  6. 4seasoning cubes + salt to taste
  7. Ginger and Garlic (Fresh or powdered)
  8. 2 TbspGround crayfish
  9. Ripe plantain (1 finger)
  10. Sliced ugwu leaves (A handful)
  11. Smoked panla (shredded) + Bite-sized pọnmọ
  12. 5-6 slicesyam, cut in cubes

Cooking Instructions

    Add both palm and vegetable oils to dry on medium heat, allow to heat up

  2. 2

    Add and sauté chopped onions for some minutes, until fragrant.

  3. 3

    Add tomato paste, stir and allow to fry.

  4. 4

    Add pepper puree, stir continuously, and allow to fry properly.

  5. 5

    Add garlic, ginger, 1tbsp crayfish, seasoning cubes, and salt. Continue frying and stirring.

    Add fish and pọnmọ,cover and allow to cook further. Turn gently to combine well.

    Add raw sliced yam to pot. Combine sauce and yam. Add some water just enough to cover the slices. Cover pot with a tight lid to prevent steam from escaping, and cook on medium to low heat

    Check that yam is now tender, then add sliced ripe plantain and cover to cook further 10 minutes.

    Once it is done, Mash some yam cubes and plantain slices to give a 'gooey' appearance

    Add remaining crayfish powder, and vegetable of choice, mix and allow to steam for few moments.
