Korean chicken wings (bonchon-alike)

I was curious to make a copy cat of bonchon fried chicken (korean salty-sweet-sour fried chicken). I read in the internet that the secret recipe for cooking korean fried chicken is a korean chili pasta called go chu jang. However, I substituted go chu jang with tabasco and chili sauce. Well, I am very much satisfied with the taste :)

When I visited South Korea I had some interesting food. The blood clot soup was quite good if you can get past the blood clots. I also had Korean chicken and found the dish quite tasty and unique. I first made the sauce traditionally with Gochujang which gives it a funky fermented flavor. I then substituted sriracha sauce for the Gochujang and loved the sauce. fenway -

This is just the coating and not the sauce, sauce is up to you. Adjust the measurements based on how many wings. I use AP flour as the base of the batter since it promotes browning because it has protein in it. There are many variations but this is mine. Chef Bryce -

Korean Style Spicy Oven Baked Chicken Wings Korean Style Spicy Oven Baked Chicken Wings
I love Korean style fried chicken, but deep frying them seems to make them really high in calories, so I experimented with creating an oven baked version. It's popular with family and friends when we have a party.● This amount fills up an American sized oven baking sheet (33 cm x 46 cm). Please adjust the amount by halving it and so on to fit your oven sheets and oven.●When putting the chicken wings in the marinade, if you massage them over the bag, your hands won't get messy. One key to get success in making chicken wings just cook the chicken wings before you roasted. I've tried roasting the chicken wings only. And the result as not good as I cooked it first. amalia virshania -
Korean Simmered Chicken Wings and Daikon Radish Korean Simmered Chicken Wings and Daikon Radish
I usually make this with beef tendon, but I tried using chicken wings instead.Simmer the chicken drumettes for at least 20 minutes. The dish will become umami-rich. If it looks like the daikon radish is going to get too soft, take it out midway . Adjust the flavoring ingredients to taste. I used raw cane sugar and a dark rich Chinese soy sauce, so the final dish was rich. Recipe by Yururi212 cookpad.japan -
