Cooking Instructions

FOR SAMBHAR- Add washed toor dal, salt and pepper, turmeric powder, asafoetida, mix vegetables with four cups water in a pressure cooker.

Close the lid and cook for 4-5 whistles or until done.

Add oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds, chopped garlic & curry leaves in it.

When they crackle add onion and soute them till they become transparent.

Add tomato & green chilli in it & soute for 5min.

Add salt and pepper, Sambhar powder & stir well.

Add boiled dal & tamarind pulp in it. Stir well and cook for five minutes.

Serve hot with rice, idli, dosa or vada.

FOR IDLI- Take semolina in a bowl.

Add curd, salt and pepper in it. Mix properly.

Add eno salt in it.

Boil water in a idli cooker.

Grease the idli stand.

Pour the mixture in idli stand.

Place the idli stand in idli cooker and cover it.

After 8-10 min. Switch off the flame and rest it for five minutes.

Put idli with the help of knife.

Serve hot with Sambhar.
