Ingredients

  1. 1/2 cupYellow split pea
  2. 100 grmsRaddish
  3. 1/2 cuptamarind juice
  4. 2 tspSambar powder
  5. 1/2 tspasafoetida
  6. 1 pinchturmeric powder
  7. Salt to taste
  8. 1 tspoil
  9. 1 tspMustard seeds
  10. Corriader and curry leaves for garnish

Cooking Instructions

    Soak tamarind for 15 minutes and make a juice by squeezing it well. Wash Toor dhall well.

    Pressure cook Toor dhall by adding 1/2 cup of water and turmeric powder.

    Slice raddish to thin slices.

  4. 4

    Add tamarind juice, Sambar powder, salt and boil for 15 minutes on medium flame.

  5. 5

    Add raddish slices to tamarind juice. It takes 10-12 minutes to cook well.

    Once the raw smell of Sambar powder goes.add cooked dhall, 1/4 cup of water, asafoetida and boil for 5 more minutes.

    For tempering.Heat oil, add mustard seeds let it crackle well add to the Sambar.

    Garnish with chopped coriander and curry leaves and serve.
