Ingredients

20- 25 minutes
4 servings
  1. 1 cupghee / clarified butter
  2. 1 cupwater chestnut flour
  3. 1/4 tspcardamom powder
  4. 2 tbspdry coconut
  5. 1 cupsugar
  6. 2 cupwater (Boiling Hot)
  7. 8-10Almond chopped
  8. 8-10Cashew nuts chopped

Cooking Instructions

20- 25 minutes
  1. 1

    Firstly, in a large kadai heat 1 cup ghee.
    add in 1 cup water chestnut flour and mix well without forming any lumps.
    roast on low to medium flame stirring continuously.
    after 14 minutes, the mixture will start to turn golden and aromatic.
    slowly after 20 minutes, the mixture will turn dark golden brown indicating wheat flour has cooked completely. keep aside.
    now in a saucepan take 1 cup sugar and 3 cup water.
    stir well-dissolving sugar and boil for 2 minutes.

    No need to get thread consistency sugar syrup.
    pour the hot boiling sugar syrup over water chestnut flour mixture stirring continuously.
    be careful as the mixture will splutter.
    keep stirring continuously, till the water chestnut flour will absorb all the water.

    Continue to cook for 5 minutes stirring continuously without forming lumps.
    now add ¼ tsp cardamom powder, dry coconut almond, cashew nuts and mix well.
    (Add ghee on top)

    Finally, serve water chestnut flour pudding (Halwa) Hot or warm..(garnish with Almond)
