Ingredients

  1. 1 cupfresh hibiscus petals
  2. 4 cupswater
  3. to tasteSugar
  4. 2 TBSlime/lemon juice
  5. Lemon zest

Cooking Instructions

    Remove any leaves from the hibiscus flowers. You could also remove the pistil(middle part that has pollen) or choose to retain it.

    Wash in cold water, avoiding to rub the petals too much because the pigment come out easily.

  3. 3

    Put in a sufuria and add the required amount of water and lemon zest and bring it to a boil. It gives a dark maroon color.

    Remove from heat then add sugar and lime/lemon juice

  5. 5

    Strain into a clean jug

  6. 6

    Serve hot or chilled.
