Always saw expensive dried hibiscus flowers on supermarkets but I did not know I can make the same with freshly picked petals
Cooking Instructions
- 1
Remove any leaves from the hibiscus flowers. You could also remove the pistil(middle part that has pollen) or choose to retain it.
- 2
Wash in cold water, avoiding to rub the petals too much because the pigment come out easily.
- 3
Put in a sufuria and add the required amount of water and lemon zest and bring it to a boil. It gives a dark maroon color.
- 4
Remove from heat then add sugar and lime/lemon juice
- 5
Strain into a clean jug
- 6
Serve hot or chilled.

Salabat (Ginger Root Tea) with Turmeric Salabat (Ginger Root Tea) with Turmeric
Salabat is the Tagalog word for ginger tea, a drink popular in the Philippines for soothing sore throats or coughs. Mrs Wyrm has been asking me to make this sort of tea for some time, so I did some experimentation and this seems to be the best ratio I've found. Drink it hot or cold as you like. Turmeric supposedly has medicinal properties, but frankly I just think it tastes good. 🇵🇭☕ 蛟龍Stormwyrm -
