Ingredients

  1. 3 tbspGhee
  2. 1 cupFine Rava
  3. 1 tspMustard Seeds
  4. 10-15Curry Leaves
  5. 1 tspUrad Dal
  6. 1 tspChana dal
  7. 8-10Cashew Nuts Halved
  8. 1/2 cupOnion Chopped
  9. 2 tspGreen Chilli Chopped
  10. 1 tspGinger Grated
  11. 1/4 cupcarrot Chopped
  12. 1/4 cupcarrot Chopped
  13. 2.5 cupHot water
  14. 1 tspSugar
  15. to tasteSalt
  16. 1 tbspLemon Juice

Cooking Instructions

    Heat 1 tsp ghee in a pan.

    Add rava and fry until turns slightly brown.

  3. 3

    Remove the roasted rava on a plate and keep aside.

  4. 4

    Heat the remaining ghee in the same pan.

  5. 5

    Once the ghee is hot, add mustard seeds, curry leaves, urad dal, chana dal and cashew nuts and fry until they turn slightly browned.

    Add onion, green chilli and ginger and fry until onion turns pinkish in colour.

    Add carrots and peas and cook on high heat for 3-4 minutes.

    Add hot water, salt, sugar and lemon juice and bring it to a boil.

    Add the roasted rava and mix well.

    Cover the pan and simmer the heat to low.

    Cook for 3-4 minutes on low heat until rava absorbed the water and is cooked.

    Remove the pan from heat and let the upma rest for 4-5 minutes.

    Fluff it with a soon and serve hot.
