Basbousa Cake

Basbousa is a sweet, syrup-soaked semolina cake that originated in Egypt. The semolina batter is baked in a sheet pan, then sweetened with orange flower water, rose water or simple syrup, and typically cut into diamond (lozenge) shapes or squares

Prepare the syrup first

In a large bowl mix semolina,flour,baking powder,sugar,coconut and salt

In a seprate bowl mix the yogurt,eggs,melted butter,vanlla
- 4
Pour the wet ingredients into the wet ingredients

And then mix with spatula or a wooden spoon to form a thick batter

Pour the batter into a 11×7 inch pan

Then cover and set the pan aside for half an hour(it helps the semolina to absorbs the liquid)

Preheat oven for 180 C.

Uncover the pan and bake in the preheated oven

Bake for 40 minutes

After it has done 40 mins remove from oven and carefully cut it

Pour the cooled syrup into the basbousa

Then place the pan back in the oven and bake for additional 5 minutes

Remove it and lets it cool down

Then cut and serve

Eat with any preferable drink i paired mine with coconut and milk drink
