I was looking for an easy slow cooker recipe that didn't call for cream of "yuck" soup. I found this recipe at www.fivehearthome.com/2014/01/25/slow-cooker-beef-stroganoff-no-cream-of-x-soup/
With a slight adjustment this recipe was a great fit for my family.

Ingredients

  1. slow cook ingredients
  2. 2 lbstew meat
  3. 12 ozmushroom
  4. 2 tbspminced fresh garlic
  5. sauce ingredients
  6. 1 1/2 cupbeef stock
  7. 1 tbspdijon mustard
  8. 1 tbspworcestershire sauce
  9. 2 tbspred wine
  10. 1 tspparsley
  11. 1 tspgarlic powder
  12. 1/2 tsponion powder
  13. 1/2 tspthyme
  14. 1/4 tsppaprika
  15. 6 tbspcornstarch
  16. add 30 minutes before serving
  17. 4 ozcream cheese
  18. 1/2 cupsour cream

Cooking Instructions

    Add stew meat, mushrooms, and minced garlic to crock pot.

    Combine beef stock, dijon mustard, red wine, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, parsley, thyme, and paprika.

    Add corn starch to the sauce and mix.

    Add sauce to crock pot and stir.

    Cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours

    About 30 minutes before serving, add cream cheese and allow to melt for 10 minutes then stir to mix.

    Stir in sour cream. Continue cooking for 20 minutes or until completely hot.

    Serve over spiral or egg noodles.
