This healthy, flavorful tomato sauce is a staple in many dishes and is really simple to make. Lots of herbs and seasonings make it so delicious that my family prefers this over anything store bought.You can use whatever onion you have on hand. Sometimes I like using a sweet onion, other times I mix in some red, so go with whatever’s available and what you like.As always, use recipes as a guideline and feel free adjust the spices to suit your preferences. For example, add more red pepper flakes to add some heat, or more sugar to make it sweeter.

This recipe is a bit of a labour of love but well worth it in the end. It gets better after a day in the fridge and freezes well. You can sub almost any kind of fatty pork but I find thick cut bacon to yield the best results. If you're a purest use pork jowl.

We need to learn how not to waste the blessings we've been given and use them completely.👌 Every time I cook, I collect tomato peels in a food bag in the freezer until I have enough to make tomato sauce. I wanted to use fresh tomatoes while they were in season.I used some orecchiette that I received from a friend to make some seafood pasta and tomato sauce with brandy.You can quickly make this by adding tomato sauce to pasta.If you add the basil after turning off the heat, it won't blacken.Definitely add brandy if you have it. I like to make the tomato meat sauce in the morning so that the sauces settle down nicely.

It was a holiday and everyone in the family was at home, but I only had time to cook in the morning! Then I thought that if I made two dishes with the same ingredients and the same prep work and made them at the same time, I could make lunch and dinner both at once.They are both meat dishes, but if you feel like it you can use quite a lot more vegetables, and no one will complain!You can sauté the chopped onions and carrots if you want, but I didn't have time to let them cool down, so I use the onions uncooked and boiled the carrots.Adjust the ratio of ground meat and vegetables to your taste.You can use more meat, or more vegetables, but either way it will taste more or less the same in the end. Pretty nice meatballs; leftovers can be frozen; use salt reduced paste and stock, and do not add extra salt to the sauce, or else it might be a bit too salty. (Pic has capsicum instead of celery, this recipe is great for substituting veggies)

This is my go to recipe when it comes to lasagne.

Every now and then, I love to make tomato sauce. Not to brag, but I do make a good sauce. To everyone, except my son. My dad would get bread to dip into the pot that I used to make my sauce. My son? He would say, "Mmmmm! Delicious!" That was it, he would not want any more of it.I took the chance to make my sauce in the slow cooker and boy did it pay off. Even my son loved it. That was it for me. I am sold on making my sauce in the slow cooker. He could not get enough of it and that convinced me to keep making it in the slow cooker.For the sauce, you can use any can of sauce that you wish to use. Whether it be crushed, whole tomato, pureed, sauce, it all works in this recipe.For this recipe, I used tomato puree and sauce. I usually use crushed tomatoes and sauce, but I thought that I would keep the pieces of tomato to a minimum for my son. Pure Genius!We cooked it for 8 hours and it was perfect, but you can cook it for 6 hours instead. Either way, at the halfway point, stir the sauce, put the lid back on the pot, and cook for the remaining time.You can also use fresh herbs & spices and cloves of garlic. It will really give this recipe a nice flavor punch. I hope that you like this sauce as much as my family & friends do.Enjoy!

Squid/ Calamari is one of my favorite things to eat. Only if it is cooked right. I used to buy squid for my pops a few times a year and he would make a delectable calamari in a tomato sauce. It was so tender and flavorful. Sadly, I never got him to write it down for me, but he did say just cook it a long time. What did that mean?I tried to make it myself a few times, since he passed. They all failed. Too tough. Too fishy. Etc, etc, etc. Finally, my wife suggested that we should just let it cook for a long time. Who am I to say no to my wife and dad?We did just that, with some carrots. Wow! Not what my dad made, but he would have loved it nevertheless.If you like it saucy, then one pound of squid is just find. But if like a touch of sauce, then use two pounds of squid. The carrots may seem to be an odd touch, but they add to the amazing flavor. Hopefully, you will enjoy this as much as we did.Enjoy!
