Ingredients

  1. For Onion Tomato Paste:
  2. 2 tbspOil
  3. 2 tspCumin Seeds
  4. 2Onions (Chopped)
  5. 2-3Cashewnuts
  6. 1Bay Leaf
  7. 1Star Anise
  8. 2-3Cloves
  9. 4-5 clovesGarlic (Peeled and Chopped)
  10. 1" Piece Ginger (Chopped)
  11. 2Tomatoes (Chopped)
  12. 1 tspSalt
  13. 4 tbspWater
  14. For Curry:
  15. 1 tbspOil
  16. 1 cupOnion Tomato Paste
  17. 1 pinchAsafoetida (Pinch)
  18. 1/2 cupGreen Peas (Boiled for 5 minutes)
  19. 1 cupPaneer Cubes
  20. As required Salt
  21. 1 tbspYogurt
  22. 1 tbspFresh Fenugreek Leaves
  23. 2Green Chillies (Finely Chopped)
  24. 1 tspRed Chilli Powder
  25. 1/2 tspTurmeric Powder
  26. 1/4 tspGaram Masala Powder
  27. As required Water
  28. 1 tbspButter

Cooking Instructions

    For the Onion Tomato Paste: Heat oil in a cooking pan. Add cumin seeds and let it sizzle. Add bay leaf, cashewnuts, star anise, cloves, ginger, garlic and onions. Saute for 5 minutes. Add tomatoes and saute for 4 minutes. Allow it to cool. Add little water and grind it to a smooth paste.

    For the Curry: Heat oil in a cooking pan. Add cumin seeds and asafoetida. When seeds start to crackle, add onion tomato paste and cook for 3 to 4 minutes. Keep stirring occasionally.

    Add chilli powder, turmeric powder, and garam masala powder. Mix and cook for 3 minutes.

    Add green peas and cook for 2 minutes.

    Add yogurt and cook for a minute.

    Add water. Mix well and cook for a minute.

    Add the paneer cubes and mix gently.

    Add fenugreek leaves, green chillies and butter. Mix gently and cook for a minute.

    Remove from heat. Garnish with coriander leaves and Serve hot with rice, roti, naan etc.
