Ingredients

  1. 200 gchana dal (bengal gram)
  2. 1onion chopped
  3. 1/2 inch ginger finely chopped
  4. 1-2green chillies chopped
  5. 1 sprigcurry leaves
  6. 1 tbspchopped coriander leaves
  7. 1 pinchturmeric powder
  8. 1 pinchbaking powder
  9. To tastesalt
  10. as neededOil for deep frying

Cooking Instructions

    Wash and soak the chana dal in water for 1-2 hours.

  2. 2

    Drain and put it in a grinder. Grind it to a coarse mixture. The mixture must have some uncrushed chana dal.

    Transfer the ground chana dal to a bowl. Add in chopped onion, green chilli, ginger, curry leaves, coriander leaves, turmeic powder, baking powder and salt. Mix everything well.

    Now make small or medium sized balls from the mixture. Flatten them slightly on your palm and place on a plate or tray.

    Heat oil in a deep pan and carefully slide the prepared dal vadas one by one in the hot oil. On a medium flame deep fry the dal vadas until golden and crisp on both the sides.

    Transfer the fried dal vadas to a kitchen tissue to get rid of extra oil.

  7. 7

    Serve the chana dal vada hot with onion, green chilli and puffed rice (murmure).
