A Christmas tradition, we got this recipe from a friend who is faculty at Laurier.

A simple dish that can be a snack or a side with minimal ingredients. This recipe was created by Mei Yokoi from Kanazawa Gakuin Junior College. It is featured in 'Kanazawa's Healthy Fish Recipes vol.6' (published February 2025).

Some people like their gravy thick. Some like it thin. This is a simple gravy that you can make how you like it by adding more or less water. I served this over dressing and with cranberry sauce, also with Stewed Pork stovetop.

A delicious hearty Irish inspired soup. It's like German potato salad meets Irish Cornedbeef and cabbage.

I was stuck in the routine of packaged powder gravy and canned biscuits… . a horror story now that I look back. I decided if I was going to be a good old fashioned cook, I better master this. I did! EASILY! This gravy is virtually no-fail… unless you scorch it of course,then you may as well dump it out, worsh your pan and start over. (; team this awesome gravy up with that amazing biscuit recipe I posted, and you're sure to win everyone over!This recipe is also MORE Amazing if you cook sausage first THEN use your grease from it to make your rue! (That may not be quite enough grease, so adding oil would probably be necessary). When your gravy is finished, add the sausage into it! YUMMO!

This was my grandmother's recipe. As a kid, I can remember my anticipation for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners simply because I wanted these noodles. I didn't even care about the holiday sweets...just wanted a mile - high mound of noodles on my plate :)

I was looking for a filling comfort food for a holiday meal. This nailed it on the head. The gravy is such a nice touch.

My oldest daughter cut the tip of her finger and had to go to the walk-in clinic, so I had to finish cooking the birthday Celebration dinner. By the way it has been a crazy year so far!!!

This food is good to eat with Steaks or Beef stew as a side dish... also good as Appetizers

The original recipe came from an old cookbook that came with my first microwave--a Kenmore - in 1975. I've tweeked it over the years but it is my old standby to serve with ham or a good garlic kielbasa.

The papas rellenas are the round potato with meat in the middle on the plate in the picture. I love these things they are awesome and easy, but time consuming to make. Everybody I know that had tried them loved them.
