Who hasn't enjoyed a comforting rice stew in the winter—or even in the summer? It feels like our kitchen isn't complete without making a simple and delicious rice stew at least once. I'm sharing my way of preparing it with you.

Returning to this dish, which is one of the most popular in the challenge section, this time I added more snails, but couldn't include betel leaves because it's too cold and I couldn't find them at any market, so I substituted with green onions instead.

Hearty stew for cold nights or quick dinners. Rice pack used in recipe can be substituted for 1 cup cooked rice.

I added lots of my hubby's favorite mushrooms to his favorite hayashi rice.By adding mushrooms, you will add a lot of great tasting stock to the stew.Microwave the onion to cut down on the cooking time.If you cool and rest the stew for a while, it will become even tastier. (Be careful not to let it burn when you re-heat it.)Add a bay leaf if you like to make the stew even more authentic tasting. Recipe by Miashanmama

Rice wine is a traditional drink like a beer consume during festival back in my village. I use to help my grandma make them with sticky rice and fermented them for a few months.
