Ingredients

60 mins
3-4 servings
  • 1/2 cupoil
  • 2medium Onion (piyaz)sliced
  • 1Bay leaf (taiz pta)
  • 2Cinnamon sticks (darchini)
  • 7-8Black pepper corn (kali mirch)
  • 1 tspCumin seeds (zeera)
  • 3-4Tomato (tamatar) chopped
  • 5-6 Cloves(long)
  • 2Black cardamom (bari Elaichi)
  • 1 tbsGinger garlic (adrak+ lehson)paste
  • 1& Half tsp or to taste Salt (namak)
  • 1& half tsp or to taste Red chilli powder (lal mirch)
  • Halftsp Turmeric Powder (Haldi powder)
  • 1/2 cupwhisked yogurt (dahi)
  • 2-3Potatoes (aalo)large (half boiled) -
  • 3&1/2 cup or as needed Water (pani)
  • 500 gms(soaked for 30 mins Rice (chawal)
  • 3-4Green chilies (sabz mirch)
  • 1/4 cupFresh coriander(zabz dhania)
  • 1 tspWhole Species (garam masala)
  • 1/2tspNutmeg & mace powder (jaifil jaivitri powder)

Steps

60 mins
  1. 1

    In pot, add oil and onion,saute little. -Add bay leaf,cinnamom stick,black pepper corns,cumin,cloves and black cardamom,saute mix it.

  2. 2

    Add ginger garlic paste and saute well.

  3. 3

    Add tomatoes and give it a good mix. Add salt,red chilli powder and turmeric powder,mix it -Now add yogurt and mix well.

  4. 4

    Add potatoes (half boiled) and green peas (half boiled),mix it and add water,bring it to boil.

  5. 5

    Add rice (soaked for 35-45 mins),mix it and cook on high flame until water dries up. -Add green chilies,fresh coriander,whole spice powder,nutmeg & mace powder,

  6. 6

    Cover and simmer for 15minutes. Now Serve with mint chutney & Salad
