Ingredients

  1. Forsambar masala-
  2. 10Kashmiri chillies
  3. 2 tbspcoriander seeds
  4. 2 tspUrad dhal
  5. 1/2 tspfenugreek seeds
  6. 1 tspcumin seeds
  7. 6pepper corns
  8. 1 cupScraped coconut
  9. 1 lime size Jaggery
  10. 1Tamarind Gooseberry size (soak in warm water)
  11. 1 cupThoor dhal
  12. 1 tspTurmeric powder
  13. 1Carrot
  14. 1Manglore cucumber
  15. to tasteSalt
  16. Fortempering:
  17. 1 tspMustard seed
  18. littleHing
  19. 15Curry leaves
  20. 4dry red chillies

Cooking Instructions

    Wash and Cook thoor dhal in a pressure cooker with turmeric powder. Mash and keep.

    Heat a pan, add 1tsp oil, fry all the dry ingredients and remove pan and add coconut, mix, let it cool. Grind as paste

  3. 3

    In a vessel cook the vegetables until soft, add mashed dhal, ground paste, jaggery, salt to taste, and add tamarind juice.

    Let it boil for few mins, now tempering the sambar with mustard seed, chilli, curry leaves. If you like add 1tbs of ghee to add more flavour
