Typically panjiri is a sweet from the state of Punjab made out of wheat flour, sugar and dry fruits but Dhaniya panjari is a falahari sweet made during the festival of Janmashtami offered as a prasad for Lord Krishna. It is made with roasted whole dhaniya powder, ghee, dry fruits, mishri and coconut. It is a very healthy and delicious sweet to eat.

Ingredients

  1. 1 cupdry whole coriander
  2. 1/2 cupmishri/ sugar crystals
  3. 6almonds
  4. 6cashew nuts
  5. 1 tablespoonraisins
  6. 1 teaspoonfennel seeds
  7. 1 teaspoonpoppy seeds
  8. 1 teaspoonginger powder
  9. 1/4 cupdesiccated coconut
  10. 1 tablespoonghee

Cooking Instructions

    Roast whole coriander on medium heat for 5 to 7 minutes. Let it cool. Now in the same pan take 1/2 tbsp of ghee and add almond, cashew nuts and pistachio. Roast it on medium flame for 2 minutes. Now add fennel seeds and poppy seeds to it and roast again. Turn off the heat and add desiccated coconut. Mix everything well. Let it cool.

    Grind Mishri in a mixer. Grind the nut mixture to a coarse powder. Now grind roasted coriander too.

    Heat remaining ghee and add roasted coriander powder to it. Roast it for 2 minutes on low to medium heat. Now take that powder out in a bowl and add powdered mishri and coarsely ground dry fruit mix to it. Add ginger powder and raisins too. Mix everything very well.

    Panjiri is ready for prasad.
