Ingredients

  • 10-12Pumpkin flowers
  • 4-5 tablespoonrice soaked for at least 30-40 minutes
  • 2Garlic cloves
  • 2Green Chillies
  • 1/2 tspCumin seeds (Jeera)
  • pinchturmeric powder (Haldi)
  • as requiredoil for shallow fry(I prefer mustard oil)
  • as neededSalt
  • as requiredWater to make batter

Steps

  1. 1

    Grind the soaked rice, cumin seeds,garlic, green chilli in a blender to medium consistency. It shouldn't be a very smooth paste nor should not be runny. It should be a little granular.

  2. 2

    Add salt, a pinch of turmeric powder and mix well. Set aside.

  3. 3

    Cut out lower part/sepal of the flower, except the petal and clean them well under running water and Pat dry using tissue/paper napkin

  4. 4

    Heat oil in a nonstick pan/tawa on a medium flame.

  5. 5

    Take one flower at a time, dip in batter shake off excess batter and place on the pan.

  6. 6

    Repeat this step for the rest of the flowers. Cook till they crisp on one side.it would take roughly 2 mins

  7. 7

    Then flip the other side and cook. drizzle little oil as and when required.. Fry till both sides of the pumpkin flower are crisp.

  8. 8

    Kakharu Phula Pitha/Bhaja is ready to be served hot.
