Ingredients

  1. 1 cupdaliya/cracked wheat
  2. 1/2 cupoats
  3. 1/2 cupmoong dal
  4. 1 cupdiced carrot
  5. 1 cupchopped green beans
  6. 1 cuppeas
  7. 1 cupchopped tomato
  8. 4 tbspghee
  9. 1/4 tsphing
  10. 1dry chilly whole
  11. 1 tspjeera
  12. 1/2 tspred chilly powder
  13. 1/2 tspkalamasala
  14. 1/2 tspturmeric powder
  15. to tastesalt
  16. 5 cupshot water
  17. shredded coconut and chopped cilantro for garnishing

Cooking Instructions

    Roast daliya and oats in 1 tbsp of ghee for approximately ten minutes on a slow flame.

    In the mean while add the rest of the ghee to the pressure cooker. When it melts, add jeera, hing, and dry chilly whole. Saute for a few seconds.

    Add carrots, green beans, peas and washed moong dal. Saute for five minutes.

    Next add tomato and the spices (red chilly powder, turmeric powder, kala masala powder and salt).

    Add 5 cups of hot water to this mixture.

    When this mixture comes to a boil, add the roasted oats and daliya.

  7. 7

    Close the pressure cooker and let it cook for one whistle.

  8. 8

    Open when pressure is released.

    Garnish with coconut and cilantro leaves. Serve hot with pickle, kadhi, yogurt or papad.
