Fish Sausage Piccata for your Bento

cookpad.japan
cookpad.japan @cookpad_jp

Pork piccata tastes great but it's always a worry as to whether it's cooked properly. With fish sausage piccata there's no need to worry about that, plus it's cheap.

Some fish sausages are mixed with cheese, so if you buy that type you don't need to add it.

Anyway, this is a very simple dish and great for your lunch box.

It's great if you have flour but if you don't then don't worry about it!
You'll just notice the batter sticking to the fish sausage a little less.

After you've cooked the sausage once, the batter may peel off easily, so dip it gently the second time.

You can use normal, longer fish sausages for this recipe but the taste and texture will be a little different. Recipe by Shijimi24

Steps

  1. 1

Slice the fish sausage into 8-10 pieces, arrange them on a large plate, and sprinkle with flour.

  2. 2

Since this step is such a pain, you just need to flour one surface of the sausages. 1 teaspoon of flour should be enough for all 10 slices. Just coat them roughly like in the photo.

  3. 3

Lightly season the egg with salt and pepper. If you have some finely grated cheese, add that in as well and make a batter.

  4. 4

Dip the fish sausage in the batter. Dip it in quickly so that the flour doesn't flake off.

  5. 5

Heat up a lightly oiled frying pan and cook the sausage slices on low-medium.

  6. 6

When both sides have cooked, dip each slice in the batter again and continue cooking.

  7. 7

Keep repeating this step until the sausage has been dipped 3 times. Serve these sausage slices in your lunch box, they taste delicious with or without ketchup.

  8. 8

By the way, if you decide not to coat the sausage in flour, this is how the surface of each slice will look. The coating hasn't adhered as well as the floured versions but these are just the backs so no one is going to see.
