Ingredients

  1. 1/2 cupWhole wheat flour
  2. 1/2 cupAll-purpose flour
  3. 1/4 cupMilk powder
  4. 1/4 cupCorn flour
  5. 2Ripe and mashed bananas medium
  6. 1/2 cupJaggery powder
  7. 1/4 cupCooking oil or ghee
  8. 1/2 cupCurd
  9. 10 strandsSaffron soaked in milk
  10. 5 dropsSaffron food colour
  11. 1/4 to 1/2 cupMilk as needed for the batter
  12. 2 pinchCardamom powder
  13. 1 tspBaking powder
  14. 1/2 tspBaking soda

    First, let's measure all the ingredients at room temperature and keep ready. Grease, dust and line a rectangular cake tin with butter paper.

    Sieve all the dry ingredients except jaggery powder in a bowl.

    To this, slowly fold in the dry ingredients alternately with milk in cut and fold method. Lastly mix in the Orange food colour.

    Transfer to the cake tin and tap 4 to 5 times. Place in oven to bake for 30 to 35 minutes.

    When cake is done, insert a toothpick to check. If it's coming out clean, take out and cool to room temperature by covering with a light towel.

    When cooled, cut in long pieces and serve to your dear brother for a very sweet and healthy Raksha Bandhan. Enjoy the wonderful day with Saffron cake bars!
