This recipe was created to eat lots of new onions, using ingredients readily at hand.

Steps
- 1
Finely julienne the onion and green pepper. If you don't like the smell or spiciness of onions, briefly soak in water. Otherwise, combine and rinse well in running water as shown in the picture.
- 2
Cut the ham into strips about the same length as the vegetables in Step 1.
- 3
After rinsing the ingredients from Step 1, drain the water from them thoroughly.
- 4
Add the seasoning ingredients to a clean bowl, and whisk together until they thicken a bit.
- 5
Add the ingredients from steps 1 and 2 and coat with the sauce. Place in the refrigerator for 30 minutes. During the 30 minutes, toss the ingredients again 2 times to ensure the flavours are distributed evenly.
- 6
Instead of ham, try using salmon, dry-cured ham, or drained tuna. Be sure to adjust the salt accordingly. As a finishing touch, drizzle on mayonnaise or soy sauce.
- 7
The dish is very pretty if you use colorful peppers instead of green.
- 8
This dish is also delicious if you use non-oil green shiso dressing. I do this when I am on a diet.
