This rich makhana and matar curry is a party vegetable.Normally in parties or in marriages we enjoy it.My husband is lactose intolerant so I cook this tasty curry without khoya .I have used almonds and poppy seeds for the gravy.
It's taste is awesome and the aroma is very good because of whole garam masala - clove,bay leaf,black pepper,javitri and star anis.You can make it on special occasions.#thc#thc12#clue-curry-

Ingredients

  1. 1 cupFox nut/makhana -
  2. 1 cupPeas -(boiled)
  3. 3 tbsp Oil
  4. 1Bay leaf
  5. 2 Clove
  6. 1Star anise
  7. 1/2 tbsp Cumin -
  8. 1 tbsp Javitri,
  9. 1Tomato - chopped
  10. 1 Onion - chopped
  11. 1Green chilli chopped
  12. 1/2 inchGinger
  13. 1/4 cupAlmonds -
  14. 2 tbsp Poppy seeds -
  15. 1 tbsp Salt
  16. 1/2 tbsp Turmeric powder -
  17. 1 tspKashmiri red chilli -
  18. 1 tbspCoriander powder -
  19. 1 tbspCoriander leaves

  1. 1

    Dry roast fox nut.

    Heat 1 tb.spoon.oil in a pan,add all whole garam masala,cumin seeds.Saute..Add onion, green chilli, almonds and ginger.Cook for 3-4 min.Add tomato and salt.Cook for 3-4 min.Add 3 cups water.Coner the pan and cook for 2 min.Let it cool.

    Grind it with soaked poppy seeds and strain.

    Now again heat oil 2 tb.spoon. in the same pan,add cumin seeds,saute.In the mean time mix kashmiri red chilli, coriander powder and turmeric powder in 1/2.cup water.Add this mixture into oil,cook.Add ground mixture of tomto,onion, almonds etc.

    Cook for 5 min.Add.green peas and roasted foxnut.Cook for another 3-4 min.Then switch off the gas.

    Sprinkle some coriander leaves on it and serve.You can serve it with plain chapati or naan.
