Rinse the dal thoroughly with water and soak it.

Clean the bathua leaves, wash them with water, and chop them finely.

Add the chopped bathua leaves and soaked dal to a pressure cooker. Cook on medium heat for 3 whistles.

For the tempering: Heat 1 tablespoon ghee in a pan. Add cumin seeds, asafoetida, garlic, and onions. Sauté, then add red chili powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, and salt.

Add the tempering to the cooked dal and mix well. Let it simmer. In the tempering pan, heat 1 tablespoon ghee and add red chili powder, then pour this over the dal before serving.
