A staple in Vietnamese cuisine, the easy way. All it takes is a few ingredients and 30 minutes.
Steps
- 1
Clean shrimp, leave shell and head on, cut a line going down where the poop tract is using knife or scissors and remove poop. Cut off whiskers. Cut pork belly into 1/2 inch pieces. Marinade everything with all of the other ingredients for 10 minutes, keep shrimp and pork separate.
- 2
Heat oil in pan, put in pork belly and stir. Pour in water until it’s almost covering the pork belly and cover. Simmer for 15 minutes.
- 3
Take lid off and turn heat on high and let liquid evaporate. Stir every 3 minutes so it doesn’t burn. Once most of the liquid has evaporated, throw in shrimp and cover.
- 4
Take lid off after 5 minutes. Ready when shrimp is cooked through.
