Chinese Beans-Garlic Stir Fry
When I went to China, I tasted this dish for the first time ever. I loved it. So I came back, and made it at home! It's really easy!
Steps
- 1
Cut the green beans into 1 inch pieces. Now boil the beans in hot water for 6-8 mins, till just about tender. Drain.
- 2
Meanwhile, chop the bell pepper into strips.
- 3
In a non-stick pan, heat the oil. Turn the flame to low, and add in the garlic. Gently stir it, and allow it to change its colour. This should take a minute.
- 4
Now add in the boiled beans, and the red bell pepper. Turn up the heat to medium, and fry these for 2 mins.
- 5
Add in the soya sauce. Season with salt and pepper. Mix well. Keep frying.
- 6
Next, add the brown sugar and the Chinese spice. Stir everything together.
- 7
If required, add 1-2 tbsp of oil for a more stir-fry effect.
- 8
Once the beans have a lovely fried taste (instead of boiled), your dish is ready to be served!
- 9
TIP 1: Since you are using soya sauce, go light on the salt.
- 10
TIP 2: You don't have to boil the beans. Feel free to fry them directly. However, they will probably take longer to cook and you will need more oil.
