Sweet Hambone Soup Sweet Hambone Soup
When I make a soup, I am one of those toss it in kind of people. So, this recipe is a very close approximation of ingredients. A little more broth may be needed or a bit more of this or that. It's really all up to you and how thick or thin you want your soup or how many veggies you like! The hambone from your holiday ham can be saved and frozen until your ready to make your soup! Also, save some of the ham and add it to the soup! You can also get a hambone from your butcher or even a Honey Baked Ham store. Valarie -

Crock pot leftover bone in ham lentil soup Crock pot leftover bone in ham lentil soup
After Christmas we always have left over ham. After 1-2 day of eating ham it gets boring. So I like to make new dishes with left overs. Lynda Leal -
Bean & Ham Hock soup Bean & Ham Hock soup
Bean soup with the slightly smoky flavor of ham hocks (smoked pig knuckle). Of course ham could be substituted, I just enjoy the extra richness ham hocks bring. Takes awhile to cook, but it is more, do a little prep, cook for awhile, so you can do other things while this cooks. This has an awesome flavor, and I usually buy a bean mix, well, I like to mix it up a little. So try it, and enjoy. Fo Fa -
Ham and Bean Soup Ham and Bean Soup
This isn't the most traditional way of making ham and bean soup but still has amazing flavor. I didn't use ham hock, ham shank or bacon which seems to be common. We used a homemade ham stock that we had in the freezer made from the bone of a spiral ham. For the ham chunks I used a combination of leftover ham from a holiday meal and the last bit of the ham I smoked this past summer. If you don't have smoked ham or double smoked in my case you can use a smoked turkey leg and let it simmer in the pot. Or even a drop or two of liquid smoke just to give the extra depth of flavor. Also used the dehydrated onion in place of fresh chopped because it seemed like it would just get lost in there. The only thing I might do differently next time is add spinach or another green to the party. jason williams -

Split pea & lentil bone broth soup Split pea & lentil bone broth soup
I wanted to make something hearty and healthy for my toddlers. The bone broth takes some time to stew... I like to let it cook overnight and then prep the rest of the soup the next day. You can always substitute the bone broth for packaged chicken or bone broth from store to save time. monkeyfufu -
