Ingredients

4 servings
  1. 500 gramPrawns
  2. 200 gramcoconut milk
  3. 50 gramcoconut paste
  4. 1 teaspoonturmeric powder
  5. 1onion cut into thin slices
  6. 1-2bay leaves
  7. 8-10 clovesGarlic cut into thin slices
  8. 1 tablespoonGinger
  9. 1 teaspoonchilli powder
  10. 1 teaspoonGaram masala powder
  11. 2-3green chillies
  12. To tastesalt
  13. To tastesugar
  14. As neededoil

Steps

  1. 1

    Wash and clean the prawns. Add turmeric powder and salt and keep it aside

    Heat a pan and add some oil into it. When hot add the prawns and fry it lightly and remove

  3. 3

    Into the same oil add bay leaf, sliced onion, garlic, green chillies and saute till light brown

  4. 4

    Add ginger paste, coconut pate, turmeric powder, salt and mix well. Let it cook for 2 mins and then add the prawns and saute again for 2-3 mins

  5. 5

    Add water and let it cook on low flame for 5-7 mins. Once prawn is well cooked and soft, add the coconut milk and some sugar

  6. 6

    Add garam masala and remove from pan. Prawn malai curry is ready to be served with rice
