Ingredients

20 minutes
  1. 3-4 cupsTender coconut grated
  2. 2 cupsSugar or jaggery
  3. 1/2 teaspoonCardamom powder
  4. 1/2 teaspoonNutmeg powder
  5. 1 tablespoonChopped almonds
  6. 1 tablespoonChopped cashew nuts
  7. 1 tablespoonRoasted chironji
  8. 1 tablespoonRoasted poppy seeds or Khaskhas
  9. 2-3 cupsAll purpose flour or Maida
  10. 1 tablespoonSemolina or suji
  11. Ghee as per need, for kneading dough and deep frying

Steps

20 minutes
  1. 1

    In a pan take grated tender coconut

    Add sugar

    Add roasted poppy seeds and chironji

    Mix well and cook until a uniform mixture, till it starts leaving sides. Add chopped dry fruits, cardamom powder and nutmeg powder. Mix well everything and allow the mixture to cool completely

    In a mixing bowl take maida, Suji and 2 tablespoons of ghee. Mix well and knead a semi soft dough using cold milk or water

  6. 6

    Keep it covered aside for 15-20 minutes

  7. 7

    Now prepare small balls of ready dough and roll out small puris

  8. 8

    Take ready coconut stuffing and place it in the middle of puri

  9. 9

    Fold the puri and seal the ends with finger or use a cutter

  10. 10

    Heat sufficient ghee in a pan

  11. 11

    Deep fry Karanji on low heat until golden in colour

    Allow them to cool completely and then store in air tight container

    Garnish as you like and serve with lots of love and enjoy festivities with family and friends
