Ingredients

30 minutes
4 servings
  1. 1 cupdry roasted broken wheat (daliya)
  2. 1 cupmixed dal (washed and soaked for 10-15 minutes)
  3. 1onion finely chopped
  4. 1tomato finely chopped
  5. 1capsicum finely chopped
  6. 1carrot finely chopped
  7. 2-3green chillies slit or finely chopped
  8. 1/2 cupgreen peas
  9. 1/4 cuppeanuts
  10. 1 tspginger garlic paste
  11. 1green cardamom pod
  12. 1bay leaf
  13. 2cloves
  14. 1small piece cinnamon
  15. 1 tspcumin seeds
  16. 1 tspred chilli powder (or according to the taste)
  17. 1 tspcoriander powder
  18. 1/4 tspturmeric powder
  19. 1/2 tspgaram masala powder (optional)
  20. to tasteSalt
  21. 3 cupswater
  22. 1 tbspoil
  23. 2 tbspchopped coriander for garnishing

Steps

30 minutes
  1. 1

    Heat oil in a pressure cooker on low medium heat.

    When oil gets heated, add cumin seeds, cardamom, bay leaf, cinnamon and cloves. Saute for few seconds.

    Add chopped onion and green chillies. Saute till onion turns translucent.

    Add in the ginger garlic paste, saute for few seconds.

    Now, add turmeric powder, red chilli powder and coriander. Saute.

    Add chopped tomato and mix well. Cook for 1-2 minutes.

    Now add chopped veggies and mix well.

    Add peanuts and garam masala powder(optional). Mix well.

    Now add in the dry roasted broken wheat and mixed dal. Mix everything very well.

    Lastly add water and salt. Mix well. Cover the pressure cooker with a lid and pressure cook the khichdi for 2 whistles.

    Open the lid and add chopped coriander. Mix well.

    Serve this delicious, nutritious and healthy khichdi with curd.

    Tips:-

    I have used arhar, moong, chana and urad dal. You can use any dal of your choice.

  15. 15

    More vegetables can be added to make this khichdi more healthy.
