Cooking Instructions
- 1
Preheat oven to 190 C.
- 2
Cut each apple into thin wedges.
- 3
Place the apples wedges in a deep baking dish. Make sure that the dish is not too big so you will have more than one layer of apple wedges in the bottom of the dish.
- 4
Sprinkle the apple wedges evenly with cinnamon and 2 tablespoons of sugar.
- 5
To prepare the crumble dough, combine nuts, flour and 4 tablespoons of sugar in a bowl. Add in the butter and knead with your hands until the dough resembles breadcrumbs. Spread the crumble mixture all over the apples.
- 6
Bake in the oven until the apples are tender and the topping mixture is golden (25 minutes).
- 7
Serve warm with vanilla ice cream on the side if desired.

This recipe was written up for the British Embassy's campaign, "A Taste of Britain" For more information, see the Facebook page www.facebook.com/oishii.igirisuIt's also delicious when made with European pears, cherries, plums, or rhubarb. Bramley apples are the best, but any tart red apples are good. It's standard to cover crumble in hot and thick custard but I also recommend that you try "Whisky Ice Cream",.
