Ingredients

20 minutes
5 servings
  • 1 cupChanadal(split Bengal gram)
  • 1 pinchasafoetida
  • 1 tablespoongrated ginger and green chilli
  • 1 tspsalt
  • 2dry red chilli
  • 5 clovesgarlic
  • 2 tspfennel seeds
  • 2 tspwhole coriander seeds
  • 1 tbspcoriander leaves
  • 1dice cut onion
  • 1/2 tspbaking soda (optional)
  • Oil for frying

Steps

20 minutes
  1. 1

    Wash and soak chanadal for 2 hours

    Dry roast fennel seeds,coriander seeds and red dry chilli

    Grind the soaked dal in the mixer grinder along with roasted masala ginger paste and garlic

    Try to add minimum amount of water.

  5. 5

    Now add the salt and asafoetida. Whip till fluffy. Here you may add baking soda if you want, add onions and coriander leaves

    Heat oil in a kadai, make balls of the mixture flatten them,fry till golden brown

  7. 7

    Serve hot with tomato sauce or green chutney
