Tempe is a common food in Indonesia, especially to lower class people. I remember when we was poor, all we can eat is Tempe with rice and sambal like this. Brings back lots of memories. Still my favorite food until now.

Tempe is a common food in Indonesia, especially to lower class people. I remember when we was poor, all we can eat is Tempe with rice and sambal like this. Brings back lots of memories. Still my favorite food until now.

Cut the Tempe very thin if you want it to be crispy, but you can cut a bit thick if you want it to be soft

Add water, garlic, red onion, and salt. Taste it until you find it salty enough

Submerge all the Tempe to the water and let it stay for 1-2 hours

Heat oil in a pan with high heat
- 5
Put the Tempe to the oil until brown and crispy
- 6
Serve with withe rice and sambal
