Varagu Pongal with Fresh Fruits / Kodo Millet Fruits Pongal
There are many traditional pongal varieties, which I am sure you would have tried by now. I tried this pongal with varagu arisi / kodo millet and fresh fruits, it was delicious. Kodo millet has lots of nutrition and antioxidants. They are good for diabetic people.

Wash varagu arisi thoroughly 4 times and keep aside.
Wash moong dal and keep aside.
Boil milk and water.. In a cooker or cooker pan, dry roast moong dal till golden brown and a nice aroma comes. - 2

Pour into it the boiling milk and water.
Add varagu arisi.
Add salt and pressure cook for 4 whistles.
When the pressure in the cooker subsides mix sugar, cardamom powder and fruits to the pongal.
In a pan heat ghee and fry cashew nuts and raisins and add as garnish. - 3
Notes : Varagu arisi contains a lot of impurities, so make sure you wash it at least 4 times.
If you like the fruits crunchy then add them at the end.
If you want the apples a little tender then sauté for 2 minutes and add them to the pongal.
Do not sauté banana and orange.
