Rice 🍚 wine 🍷 update!! Yes it worked 🎉🥳

My father used to make tomato wine all the time growing up. It tasted like what gasoline smells like. Some recipes I’d like to make ask for rice wine … which I can’t find here in Enugu. That means I will be making my own 😏 for the first time ever making wine.
I’m starting with a very small batch to see and will tweek and create as I go. Patience is a virtue lol learned that from my dad’s experience 🤩

Steps
- 1
First put rice in a clean glass jar and rinse it 2 or 3 times. Cover the rice with 2c distilled water. Put the jar and a small glass or ceramic bowl and a spoon inside a steamer for 40 minutes. I don’t have a steamer so I did what’s in the pic below and I will add water as needed (distilled)and have my heat on low-med and cover with a lid. My jar was too tall for the pot.

The extra bowl and spoon is for mixing the water and yeast. It is a must to sterilize everything u will be using or the wrong bacteria could grow (black mold) After the 40 mins of boiling turn off and cool completely. I will pour my rice and water into the glass jar. Add the sugar and vinegar or lemon. In the extra bowl dissolve the yeast in about 1/2c of distilled lukewarm water and add to the rice.
- 3
Tighten the lid all the way and just slightly loosen so air will gently flow in and out. For the next 18 days stir for 2 mins once in the morning and once in the evening. After 3 days u can tighten the lid all the way if u want a higher alcohol content

I will add a picture when my process is complete!
