Ingredients

30 minutes
4 servings
  1. 4 cupMalbar leaves chopped
  2. 2 cup2" long chopped stem of Malbar spinach
  3. 1 cupsoaked green gram
  4. 1 cuponion sliced
  5. to tasteSalt
  6. 2 ltrWater
  7. for raw masala
  8. 2 cupgrated coconut
  9. 1small onion chopped
  10. 1 tbspcoriander seeds
  11. 1 tspjeera
  12. 4byadagi red chilli
  13. 5-6garlic cloves
  14. 1 tspmustard seeds
  15. 5-6curry leaves
  16. 1gooseberry sized tamarind
  17. 1/4 tspturmeric powder

Steps

30 minutes
  1. 1

    For raw masala... blend all ingredients under raw masala to the smooth paste by adding required amount of water, keep aside.

  2. 2

    Chop the basale soppu / malabar spinach roughly

  3. 3

    Chop stem 2" long and cook it by adding water and soaked green gram, without salt.

  4. 4

    After well cook add spinach and salt.

  5. 5

    After transulant add the ground masala.

  6. 6

    Bring it to boil vigorously 10 minutes.

  7. 7

    If you need add seasoning of mustard seeds, red chilli and garlic.(it is optional)

  8. 8

    Serve it with rice or rice kadubu.
