This is one of the main Prasad for Shivratri in South India. Puliogare is made up of rice,tamarind pulp,peanut and roasted ground mixture of dals, peppercorns and dry chillies. This puliogare can be prepared with flattened rice too,..
Steps

Soak rice for 10 minutes.

In a pan add 1 teaspoon oil and fry all the ingredients except rice, tamarind pulp, asafoetida,curry leaves and peanut. Fry till golden brown and keep it aside.

Pressure cook rice for 6 minutes and keep it aside. Rice should not be mushy.

In a mixer grinder coarsely grind the fried ingredients and keep it aside.

Take a heavy bottomed pan and add oil on a medium heat. Add peanut, asafoetida and curry leaves and fry for a minute.

Now add 1/2 cup tamarind pulp, turmeric powder and salt to taste. Add 1/4 water and mix well. Let it cook until raw smell of tamarind pulp disappear and oil has to float above. Puliogare mix is ready.

Add puliogare mix to the cooked rice and mix well. Puliogare rice The Prasad of Maha Shivratri is ready to serve.
